When establishing or improving an e-commerce presence, most retailers face the "build vs. buy" decision. A custom-built solution guarantees that the features will be designed to fit your needs. But customization can take too long, cost too much, and is not always scalable. Off-the-shelf solutions can be more cost and time efficient, but the result is often limited features, a generic user experience, and difficult integration efforts. Open Commerce Platform offers the best of both worlds. As a J2EE-compliant license-free framework that can run on a number of application servers, OCP fluidly integrates into multiple systems and databases. It provides a robust feature set, including targeted merchandising and support for A/B testing, that can easily be modified to meet your needs. Built upon Fry's 12 years of e-commerce success, the framework incorporates best-practice design. The distinct presentation layer ensures the overall experience captures your brand and speaks to your customers. Fry's newest addition to OCP, the Experience Manager, is a campaign management tool that helps you create uniquely personalized user experiences. It's an effective way to dynamically deliver information to your customers based on their choices, preferences, and actions. The result? Improved customer satisfaction and loyalty that drives sales. Clients like Whirlpool, The Home Depot, Ann Taylor, Maidenform, Lumber Liquidators, and Lillian Vernon chose Fry's OCP solution because it is: Flexible - The framework approach ensures the functionality can be adapted to meet your business needs rather than forcing your business to adapt to technology. Scalable - OCP follows an n-tier architecture so that web, application, and database server tiers can scale independently as needed. Robust - The feature set goes beyond the basics and provides robust merchandising, account, checkout, search, and catalog management tools. Partnerships with Endeca and Scene7 enable implementation of Guided Navigation™ and rich media. By Fry - Retailers that choose OCP rely on the company behind it. We have over 12 years experience providing strategy, design, development, and managed services expertise to many of the world's best known brands. We help our clients achieve success by building more than a "store." We work with them to capture the brand, merchandise effectively, streamline checkout, provide valuable membership features, and ensure customer service availability at every turn. The result? Substantial sales. High conversion rates. Repeat visits. And some very happy shoppers. |

Whirlpool Corporation - the world's leading manufacturer and marketer of major home appliances - recognized the value of multi-channel marketing and set out to meet their customers in new ways. Whirlpool's business-to-consumer Web properties have become significant channels for marketing, communication, consumer loyalty, and revenue. As a manufacturer, Whirlpool values this direct interaction with its consumers through the Web sites for each of its brands. But as its online channels grew, Whirlpool needed to consolidate the sites onto a more flexible, stable, common platform that could support the unique needs of each brand and allow Whirlpool to better leverage their existing enterprise systems. Together, Fry and the eWhirlpool group crafted an e-commerce strategy, including plans for site redesigns that would speak to their various consumer groups, reinforce brand image, and provide site visitors with the product information they need to make informed purchases. The new sites would require a platform able to meet the increasing demand on these growing business channels. The Whirlpool and KitchenAid sites were completely redesigned and rebuilt using Fry's Open Commerce Platform. The new sites offer improved functionality, new features, and contemporary designs that reflect the personality and character of the brands' customers. Fry worked closely with Whirlpool and KitchenAid’s interactive agencies to provide seamless integration between the new presentation layers created for the sites and the rich functionality behind them. The sites are more attractive and easier to navigate than ever before, providing information about the products, services, and accessories available from Whirlpool and KitchenAid. Fry also hosts both sites and provides managed services and maintenance on an ongoing basis. |
