Intro
Here at Fry, we understand that each project deserves special treatment. After all, every company has specific goals, messages, and business positions that cannot be addressed with "just add water" solutions. Our process, while clearly defined, is flexible enough to meet the needs of a wide range of projects. By following the key steps in these six phases, we can cut through the clutter, achieve business goals, and meet the needs of each and every user. First, we huddle with you to clarify your goals and objectives, assess your audience needs, position your brand for the online environment, and formulate technical requirements. In addition, we closely examine competitor sites and industry trends that may affect or enhance the project. If needed, we can conduct user testing on an existing site and assess current platforms and systems. We take all gathered information and analyze our findings in order to formulate the best site design strategy, including high-level site architecture, creative, branding, production, and technical considerations and recommendations. These assessments and recommendations are housed in a Strategic Site Design Recommendation Document. All subsequent design and development decisions are based upon the direction established in this document. Once we have agreed upon an overall strategy and direction, we work to establish the framework for the site from a functional, creative, and technical perspective. This framework will serve as the roadmap for all design, technical, and production efforts during the development phase. During this phase, Fry produces documentation and preliminary designs, specifying all content, functionality, navigation, and overall look/feel. Of course, we don't keep it to ourselves. We meet regularly with our clients to review these concepts as they evolve. Once the framework has been established, we build the site. This is when it all comes together. When documents are translated into actual live pages. All functionality is built and tested. All pages are designed and produced. During our development process, you can watch the site come alive and grow. It's amazing to watch (no matter how long you've been doing this). In order to build Web sites that work, you must put them through the wringer. During this phase, our Quality Assurance department confirms that the site conforms to the client's standards (as well as ours). Fry measures quality in two ways: 1) product reliability and 2) happy customers and/or clients. A site that has undergone a thorough QA test cycle will have fewer bugs, dead links, typos, and errors than a site without appropriate QA. A focused QA initiative results in a much more positive experience for the end-user. Some people think launch is just a flip of a switch (and time for some long-deserved shut-eye). At Fry, it's a phase. We don't walk away the day your site goes live. We continue testing and monitoring efforts and make sure it all runs smoothly. Work doesn't stop on a Web application after launch. During maintenance, Fry is constantly monitoring the production environment for optimal performance. And our Data Analysis and Reporting offerings leverage the Web's valuable ability to preserve site visitors' footprints, allowing the client to make informed decisions about future site enhancements. |
